Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Dessie Jackson is best described as a breath of fresh air. She’s always working on a new project, and honestly with Dessie, it’s impossible not to dig and support what she has going on. She received her BFA from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and is currently residing in Los Angeles. Emerged in the wake of influence, she has quickly been moving up the ranks in the art world, and actively making a name for herself. Over the years it seems as if Dessie has worked with everyone, from Vans Girls to Nylon; Vfiles to The Hundreds; Vice to Epic Records, and for now let’s just leave it at a lot in between. Her abundant list of collaborations with established brands and concepts has earned her recognition such as the Vivian Rosenberg award, the Alec Abels Memorial award in painting, artist of the year nominee for rad girls, and #30under30 Philadelphia’s most inspiring women. Dessie’s expressive and enthusiastic nature is surely exhibited in her work. Her unique take on the abstract has redefined the word, and paved the way towards a new generation of mixed media.
